CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT RULES:
All teams must be paid in full before their first game. All teams must have submitted a copy of their officially stamped USA Hockey roster. If a team needs to bring up a player, a copy of the roster the player appears on must be submitted at the sign-in table prior to the game. All teams must be USA Hockey registered.
The tournament schedule is NOT subject to change. Any request to have games moved to a different date or time will not be allowed. Teams that do not show up for their scheduled game will receive a forfeit. The tournament will consist of a four team bracket with each team playing a preliminary round format with the other three teams in its bracket. The top two teams in the bracket will advance to the tournament final. All teams are guaranteed a minimum of three games. Each game will consist of three (3) twelve-minute stop time periods. Running time in the third period will be utilized when any team has a five goal lead. Penalty minutes are as follows; 1:30 minutes for minor penalties, 5:00 minutes for major penalties and 10:00 minutes for misconduct penalties. Any player receiving four (4) penalties in a game will be ejected from that game and will be suspended from the his/her teams next Arlington Christmas Tournament game.
Fighting will result in ejection from the tournament. All decisions made by the tournament committee are final. On ice referee calls are final. No protest will be allowed.
Tie Breaking Rules:
- Head to Head
- Least amount of goals scored against
- Least amount of penalty minutes
- Goals scored for
- Coin toss
There will be no overtime during the preliminary round.
Games tied at the end of regulation play will play a 5-minute sudden victory period until a
winner is determined at full strength 5 on 5. If no winner after 5 minutes, there will be a one minute break. The teams will then play a 5-minute sudden victory period until a winner is determined at 4 on 4. If there is no winner after 5 minutes, there will be a one minute break. The teams will then play a 5-minute sudden victory period until a winner is determined at 3 on 3.
This repeats until the game winner is determined. Should a penalty occur during the 5 on 5, the teams play 5 on 4 until the penalty expires. If a penalty is called during the 4 on 4, the teams will play 4 on 3. If a penalty is called during a 3 on 3, the non-penalized team will add an additional player to the ice to play at 4 on 3. When the penalty expires, the penalized player will return to the ice. At the next stoppage of play, the teams will return to the playing strength of 3 on 3.
There will be no timeouts during the preliminary round games. One timeout per team is allowed
during the championship final.
Good Sportsmanship will be expected in all facilities, at all times by players, coaches, parents and spectators, or they will be asked to leave the facility.
