Run to Home Base Fund Raiser

Lou Gilman and his family have been a part of the AHC community for several years with multiple children participating in the program. Their kids enjoy the fun and challenging aspects of the sport which includes training with their team, engaging in competition and building camaraderie. The same can be said for our servicemembers, but to a much higher degree of course.

Those servicemembers not only put their lives on the line, but sacrifice their mind, body and spirit to answer the call of duty. Further, their entire family makes a tremendous sacrifice. It's no wonder they have such a difficult time integrating back into civilian life once their mission is complete.

In 2005, Red Sox players and ownership recognized that the things that engage athletes in sport can be used to treat our veterans suffering from the invisible wounds of war. So the Red Sox Foundation and Mass General Hospital partnered up to form the Home Base Foundation.

Lou's been a devoted supporter of the Home Base Foundation since its inaugural, signature fundraising event in 2009 called Run to Home Base. Since then he and his family have been more involved and their impact greater as the years go on.

This year Lou is setting a very ambitious goal to raise $10,000 for the Home Base Foundation. Lou is honored and humbled to be part of such a great cause, and hopes his donors always express the same sentiment when answering the call to contribute.

With Giving Tuesday approaching, please consider a donation so Lou can reach my goal!
